I first met Melissa and Carmen, the two of the three power-house women behind the Savannah Food Co-Op (Julie rounds out the team) when they began bringing their kids to my Kids Yoga Class at the Yoga Co-Op. When I found out they were the forces behind the Savannah Food Co-Op, I was so excited and grateful for all the efforts they put forth to offer Savannahians affordable local and organic foods.
As Global Mala Savannah 2011 came together, the theme: Nourish became apparent, especially in relation to what our Recipient Back Pack Buddies is doing by nourishing school-aged children in Savannah, who might otherwise go without. And it seemed like a perfect match for Savannah Food Co-Op to be part of this event. I was thrilled that they agreed to help support this cause as well as the yoga and mindful community by being part of our event this year.
Savannah Food Co-Op will be a vendor at the Global Mala Nourish Savannah 2011 on Saturday, September 24th, 3-5:30pm at Mother Mathilda Beasley Park. When you come to the event, bring your reusable grocery bags and load up on the lovely local and organic goodies they will be selling! We’re always talking about supporting local and organic folks and good causes. Now we can do it all in one fun afternoon!
